Computer Game Treats Eye Disorders In Children

Children with eye disorder syndrome commonly called “lazy eye” or amblyopia can be cured with therapy using a special computer games designed by scientists from the University of Tel Aviv.
Traditional treatment requires the use of amblyopia special glasses so thick that for several months before the eyes of patients actually improved.
According to the researchers, this method will actually worsen the conditions that resulted in eye health social stigma for the patient’s infancy. In other words, this method is not 100 percent effective. Such information is quoted from the Times of India.
Ophthalmologist and a brain Uri Polat, from Tel Aviv University developed a computer method of therapy that helps heal children with amblyopia by allowing them to enjoy the fun playing games while undergoing therapy.
When patients late in playing computer games, he would stay awake and hopes things beyond expectations.
“How this treatment, originally only intended for adults only, namely to improve nerve activity in the brain, which acts as the operator function of the eye. But when applied to children with amblyopia, the therapy seems to play this game can also heal them,” Polat said.
The results showed that the therapy was in front of the computer for 20 hours of therapy has an effect equivalent to 500 hours using special glasses amblyopia patients.
Polat was now working with gaming experts from the University of Rochester developed a special game for therapy children with amblyopia.
