Bionic Eye Helps the Blind’s Sight

Electronic retinal implant or bionic eye that can help disabled people with a certain look better, getting closer to reality thanks to the findings made in the MIT scientists.

This engineering eye is not as perfect as the original eye. But by replacing the function of retinal cells, this bionic robot can help provide the basis for the vision of those who suffer from retinitis pigmentation or age-related muscular degeneration, the leading cause of blindness.

Asthma Inhaler that Talk to Your Doctor

The company Cambridge Consultants have launched an asthma inhaler for people with wireless, nicknamed Vena, sending the readings collected at a management center in the home, or an online health record such as Google Health or Microsoft Health Vault.

The idea is that patients and medical professionals in charge are connected remotely via medical devices such as this. Technically employs two standards that are gaining importance, IEEE11073 infrared and Bluetooth profile for medical devices. This inhaled combines both communications technologies in a single chip.

Microchip in the Stomach to Remind Tablets

A tiny chip in the body of a chronically ill people could remember in future to the tablet. If the wearer has forgotten the pill, such a chip will continue to independently recall via SMS to it. This is announced at least, the company Novartis.

Elderly people living alone often forgotten under the circumstances, taking pills, even if these are vital. The pharmaceutical company Novartis has for the first time a blood-pressure lowering tablet with a biodegradable microchip fitted, which will signal whether the pill in time arrives in the stomach.
